Testimonials

Thank you so much it was a great session and has definitely started a lot of buzz amongst the educators. The educators are definitely a bit more confident with what they are doing in the planning cycle. We are very excited to see them feeling so positive.
— TRACEY JEFFERY FDC COORDINATOR
We have seen an incredible change in quite a few of our educators. You just simplified it and it’s like a lightbulb has turned on and everyone is really inspired. We have not only seen a change in their written program/cycles of learning but in their facebook posts especially. So much more meaningful now.
— AMANDA BRETT FDC COORDINATOR
“Thanks Stephen, we always come away from your sessions inspired and energised!”
— HANNAH, EDUCATIONAL LEADER
“Stephen you have really helped me to come to grips with programming and planning. This has always been something I have lacked confidence in but now I feel ready to make it work for me!”
— ZOE, ROOM LEADER

MY WORK

Early Childhood Education & Care is a truly meaningful and rewarding profession, but this is rarely reflected in professional recognition, respect, conditions and pay. All too often, educators' passion for their work becomes bogged down in stress, busyness, daily pressures, regulatory requirements and paperwork. But it doesn't have to be this way. What I can offer individuals, teams and organisations is a way to be confident and empowered as professionals, to gain a clear understanding of the NQF and other requirements and make these work for YOU, rather than the other way around, through connecting back with the spark and meaning of your work with children in authentic, practical ways.

About Me

I am a qualified Early Childhood Teacher, with an undergraduate degree focussing on critical theory and developmental psychology, and post-graduate qualifications in Early Childhood Education. With nearly 30 years experience in the field, I have worked as a contact educator for many years, as well as in leadership roles, across long day care, primary and preschool, school aged care and in-home care, working extensively with children from birth to 6 years. I was a founding member of the QUT Student Guild Kelvin Grove Centre (School Street) and have been delivering professional development to the sector since 1998, working with Gowrie Qld, TAFE, QUT, the Workforce Council, Centacare, QLECS, the Community Child Care Association (Victoria), C&K Qld, NRPA and many other organisations. For many years I was on the panel of providers for PSC for Qld and have worked extensively with rural and remote services. I am currently on the board of the Social Justice in Early Childhood Foundation and am a member of the Professional Reference Body of ECW.
